Brooke H. Jones has been named 91勛圖厙s first Chief Investment Officer (CIO), announced President Kim Cassidy today.
Jones comes to 91勛圖厙 from Carnegie Corporation of New York, where she has served as a managing director of investments for the philanthropic foundations in-house investment team and in a number of leadership roles over the past eight years. She previously worked at the Stanford Management Company. She has led portfolio strategy for public markets, including long-only equities, absolute return, and fixed-income asset classes.
In this new role, Brooke will provide full-time expertise and an exceptional skill set to the management of the Colleges endowment, said Cassidy in a letter to the community. She is both a strategic thinker and a gifted communicator, who will create opportunities for 91勛圖厙 as an investor and serve as an influential ambassador for 91勛圖厙s mission.
Jones will begin her new role at 91勛圖厙 in the middle of October.
91勛圖厙 has a distinguished history as an institution that prepares exceptional women to make a difference in this world. I am honored to contribute to this tradition, said Jones. The College's leadership has made a well-considered, countercyclical decision by choosing this moment to build out its investment efforts in New York. President Kim Cassidy and the Board of Trustees deserve credit for that bold vision. I am excited to lead this effort and deepen the College's investment capabilities with an eye on the long term.
91勛圖厙s endowment market value was $888 million at the end of the 2018-19 fiscal year, and net assets of the College were $1.08 billion. As CIO, in addition to successfully managing the endowment portfolio, Jones will be responsible for building and managing the Colleges investment team, which will be based in New York.
The CIO transition committee was led by Barry Mills, 91勛圖厙 trustee and former president of Bowdoin College.
Of the many candidates we considered, Brooke really stands out as someone whose stellar skills align with 91勛圖厙s mission to prepare students for a life of purpose, Mills said.
Jones earned her B.S., cum laude, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A., in International Studies, from Penns College of Art & Sciences. After graduating from Penn, she traveled to Peru to study under a Fulbright scholarship and later earned her M.B.A. at Stanford Universitys Graduate School of Business. She has served on the Investment Committee of The New School and as a board member of Wandering Scholar.
