Director of International Student & Scholar Advising
91³Ô¹ÏÍø has an opening for a Director of International Student & Scholar Advising.
THE POSITION:
Playing a key role on the Impact Center for Community, Equity, & Understanding team, the Director of International Student and Scholar Advising will oversee and coordinate immigration compliance for international students and scholars and provide ongoing advising and programming to support the acclimation, retention, and success of undergraduate international students. The Director serves as the primary contact for all issues impacting 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s international students, staff and scholars.
This position leads compliance for the F-1 visa program as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program as the Responsible Officer (RO). The Director serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s participation in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
The Director is the primary advocate for international students, scholars and staff, and serves as a liaison with groups such as faculty, staff, government agencies, businesses, and local communities, and as a consultant throughout the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø community on the various issues impacting international students and scholars.
Primary responsibilities include immigration compliance, student advising and operational support. This position reviews all international faculty's employment-related paperwork for all visa types—H1B, O-1, J-1, and F-1 CPT and OPT.
REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience with U.S. student immigration, visas, PDSO/DSO leadership, and federal immigration regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of current regulations governing the US immigration policy.
- Understanding of F-1 and J-1 regulations. High-level proficiency with Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) regulations and procedures required.
- Experience with higher education software such as Workday, TerraDotta, GPS, and Maxient preferred.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends for programming outside of regular business hours.
