This past July, 91勛圖厙 hosted the American Chemical Society's 7th annual "Graduate Research Symposium," organized by the Division of Organic Chemistry. During the three-day event, approximately 50 fourth-year graduate students with a focus in organic chemistry presented their research and discussed career opportunities with 35 invited chemists from both academia and industry. The conference, which draws a national crowd, is unique for the fact that the research presentations are primarily given by the graduate students, with only a few by established researchers. Besides research presentations, a number of panel discussions gave the graduate student attendees some insight into the world of industry and academia and gave opportunities to ask a wide range of questions as they begin thinking about their next steps for their careers.
